February 2013 Beauty Favorites

Greetings Lobsters,

As February comes to a close, I thought I’d share some of my favorite beauty items I have been using this past month. I haven’t done a Favorites post since October, so this is definitely overdue.

Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter in Twice Is Nice and Litchi Milk Tea: I use this delicious pumpkin butter product as a hand cream, but you can use it anywhere. I have a travel size of the Twice Is Nice at my desk and a full size of the Litchi Milk Tea at home on my nightstand. Both scents are absolutely heavenly. Twice Is Nice is described as, “Buttery sugar cookie, with shavings of creamy coconut and topped with toasted almond slivers”. Litchi Milk Tea is, “Tart lychee fruit and black tea met with a splash of coconut milk.” I guess it’s the coconut I am drawn to. I like that the product isn’t greasy, which is something I am very paranoid about when it comes to lotions and butters. At $4.50 for a 2oz travel jar or $10 for a full size 6 oz jar, these butters are a steal! All of their Pumpkin Butters are made from scratch with shea butter and unrefined pumpkin seed oil AND are paraben free and vegan. Check out Haus of Gloi’s website for a full list of vegan products available for purchase.

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup: As spring comes creeping in, I have slowly moved away from my BB Cream and have started to experiment with illuminating foundation. I love this foundation because it matches so perfectly with my skin tone, and I can easily make it matte with a little powder or enjoy the healthy glowing finish the foundation has when left as-is.

Tarina Tarentino Dollskin Cream Blush Pressed Sparklicity Duo in Mr. Pink/E.L.F. Studio Blush in Fuchsia Fusion: That is a mouthful! I purchased this Tarina Tarentino duo a couple months ago when Sephora was phasing out the brand and offering remaining inventory on major clearance. You can still purchase Tarina Tarentino beauty products directly from their website. I love how pigmented the Mr. Pink cream blush is, “dollskin” is a perfect description of the end result. I set this blush with E.L.F Studio Blush in Fuchsia Fusion (available at Target) to keep the look lasting all day. I first tried this combo for Valentine’s Day when I wanted to do a very festive pink-themed face. I loved the result so much I have been rocking the pink cheeks all month. There’s something about pale skin and bright pink cheeks that makes me feel jolly.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk: I use this product to highlight the inner corners of my eyes, the brow bone,  and the outer corner of my eye at the lash line. This technique is a game changer. Having the highlight at the three different points really brings any eye look together, in addition to making your eyes appear larger. I use the NYX Pencil as a base, and then go over the areas with either bareMinerals READY® Eyeshadow in Carte Blanche for a shimmery look, or theBalm’s Matt Malloy for a matte finish.

Hair Donut: I can’t think of another hair product that has changed my life as much as this simple sponge. Available in many colors and sizes from H&M, Claire’s Accessories, and Sally Beauty Supply – a hair donut helps you create a perfectly round bun in seconds. This is my go-to hair routine for the office, formal occasions, and even the gym.

I hope you all enjoyed this month’s addition of my Favorites. Check back for more!
